Tree trimming and pruning in Lufkin
Limbs over the roof, dead wood, and the wire to the house.
Trimming covers the jobs short of removal: dead limbs over the roof, branches scraping the siding, a crown thinned so wind passes through, or limbs on the wire to the house.

The wire to your house
Oncor maintains the lines in Lufkin, according to the city. Its guidance:
- Trimming between two Oncor poles has to be done by Oncor.
- The wire running from the pole to your meter is yours to keep clear; Oncor says to hire a qualified tree trimmer or arborist for it.
- For that work, Oncor or your retail electric provider can arrange a temporary disconnect and reconnect. There are charges for it.
- People who aren't line-clearance certified should stay a minimum of 10 feet from high-voltage lines.
Treatments
If a contractor suggests spraying or injecting a tree, ask about their license: the Texas Department of Agriculture says anyone applying pesticides to trees, lawns or ornamentals for hire needs a TDA license.

Common questions
Will Oncor trim the branches around the line to my house?
No. Per Oncor, keeping branches off the pole-to-meter wire falls to the property owner, though Oncor will drop power temporarily, for a charge, so a trimmer can work safely.
