Tree removal in Lufkin

Dead, leaning or crowding trees, and what to settle before the first cut.

Removal means the whole tree comes down. Before anyone prices it, four things matter: how tall it is, what it could hit, whether it's alive, and what happens to the trunk afterwards.

What sets the price

Published tree removal prices by height
Tree heightAngi, Houston (Aug 2026)
Up to 30 ft$150 to $450
30 to 60 ft$450 to $1,200
60 to 80 ft$800 to $1,500
Over 80 ft$1,000 to $2,000, plus about $500 if a crane is needed

Angi's Houston average is about $800, and it lists pine at $250 to $1,500 and oak at $200 to $2,000. Angi puts haul-off near $70 and chipping near $95. Angi also notes that trees near a roof or power lines, or in a tight back yard, cost more to remove.

Dead pines

A pine killed by bark beetles is worth dealing with early. The Texas A&M Forest Service advises removing standing beetle-killed trees and burning or otherwise disposing of them so the beetles can't emerge, and it notes that trees can still be sold as timber if the bark hasn't started to slip. Before the saw starts

  • Look up. Oncor says anyone who isn't line-clearance certified should stay at least 10 feet from high-voltage lines, so a tree tangled near one needs Oncor first; see power line trees.
  • Ask about the wood. Lufkin's Solid Waste Services says tree services remove their own debris. Get haul-off, chipping or firewood written into the price.
  • Ask about the stump. Find out whether grinding is included or quoted on its own. See stump grinding.
  • Compare bids. Texas AgriLife Extension suggests two or three, plus proof of insurance.

Common questions

How much does it cost to take down a pine in Lufkin?

There's no Lufkin price list. Angi's August 2026 Houston guide lists pine removal at $250 to $1,500, with height, access and haul-off moving the number.

Is the wood hauled away?

Only if it's in the contractor's price. The City of Lufkin says tree services are responsible for removing their own debris.
