Old town, forestry school

In 1779, Antonio Gil Y'Barbo led settlers back to the area, and that summer Spain designated Nacogdoches a pueblo. The city incorporated in 1837. Stephen F. Austin State University, which specializes in forestry and agriculture, is here, and lumber remains one of the city's major economic sectors.

Storms and lines

Rita reached Nacogdoches too: TXU Electric Delivery reported that 90 percent of its customers in the Lufkin and Nacogdoches areas lost power in 2005. For trees on wires, see power line trees.

Ask the city

Nacogdoches is a separate city in a different county, so Lufkin's pickup and burn rules don't apply. We didn't find its tree or brush rules in a form we could cite; ask the City of Nacogdoches.

Nearby, requests also come in from Diboll, Hudson, Huntington, and from Lufkin itself. See every area.
